Resilience in Landscapes

Painting landscapes is a joy rooted in presence. It means being outside, surrounded by light and weather and texture, watching the world shift and breathe. There’s something grounding about trying to catch a moment—a flicker of light, a color that only lasts for a second—as it moves past. These works are a response to that fleeting beauty.

But there’s more in the landscape than what meets the eye. These places hold stories—of weathering, of holding fast, of enduring. I’m drawn to coastlines, to wind-battered homes and weathered rocks, not just for their beauty, but because they speak to something deeper: resilience. They remind me of people who’ve stood through storms, who’ve been shaped but not broken.

Like Homer, Sargent, and Bellows, I’m pulled toward Maine’s coast—a place that doesn’t try to impress, but instead quietly insists on its presence. Through these paintings, I try to honor that spirit and share it.

If something here speaks to you—if you see your own story in these lines and colors—I invite you to explore further, reach out, or bring one of these works into your space.
