This is an oil painting of one of the iconic canons on the Eastern Prom in Portland, Maine. The Eastern Prom is a beautiful location overlooking Casco Bay. This was painted on location during the summer and completed in the studio. The canon is a historic attraction. The picture reminds us of warm breezes and relaxing by the sea.
I am influenced by Sargent and his direct painting of locations. I am also influenced by Winslow Homer.
