This is one of a series of still-life paintings that center on a lemon. The lemon is rich in color. The rich colors throughout the painting are in relief against the background and the white tablecloth. It is a still life painting, however, I wanted the painting to feel like it is full of action and movement. The flower leafs aggressively cut through the space while the solid apple anchors the picture in place. This creates tension throughout the picture. The viewer ultimately feels a sense of peace despite interlocking movements.
